a good cause

there is a woman i know via the internet, a wonderful talented designer named chappy. now chappy has designed many patterns over the years, but none as special as the booby sock. thats right you heard me the booby sock,a sock designed for woman by a woman in support of breast cancer awarness/ i would love if all of you could take a look at this pattern and order it , part of the proceeds go to the susan b cancer reasearch foundation a very worthy cause indeed.

we all have to do our part in finding a cure for breast cancer. woman and men alike as it is not just a disease for woman. men too can get breast cancer.

so hop aboard and order your pattern from chappy, you wont regret it, its a wonderful design from a talented designer for a cause that needs our help. we all know some one somewho has either suffered from breast cancer or who has had a family member or friend devistated from this disease. wont you please do your part and help?

on behalf of chappy who has permitted me to post this i thank you in advance and happy knitting :0)

BOOBY SOCKS!
You've all heard of bobby socks; well, this is booby sock! Besides making you smile, or even giggle, there is a purpose for this sock. It is to give awareness to breast cancer. Along with keeping your feet warm, the booby socks will give you a gentle reminder to do your monthly self-breast exams and to get that annual mammogram!
The booby sock has several features - a cabled cuff, 4 differentpattern bands and a star toe. Some info on these choices:
1st pattern band represents our tireless, unending footsteps to raise money to help find a cure.
2nd pattern band represents the pink ribbon which is known internationally as a symbol to help raise awareness of breast cancer.
3rd pattern band represents a pair of breasts. (okay, you gotta stretch the imagination a tad here!)
4th pattern band represents a pair of mammogrammed breasts. (there's a giggle!)
A star toe was used since every woman is a star! And yes, the toe is anatomically correct!
$7.50 - $3.50 of the purchase price will be donated to the Susan Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. I will keep a running total posted of what is being donated.
ALL PAGES OF THIS PATTERN ARE PRINTED ON HEAVY WHITE CARDSTOCK AND ENCLOSED IN A PROTECTIVE PLASTIC COVER.

yea!!!! lucky me!!

instead of just one partner in the bottle swap, lucky me i get two YEA!!!

I love shopping for my bottle swap partners. trying to fig out what they would like. I always like to try and put some thing personally made into the swap if I can, .I remember 1 partner I had to send out to. not only was she totally into knitting and a very fine knitter, she and her hubby were totally into their fishing and took fishing trips all the time.well I decided to do something a little diff. sure i sent her knitted items, after all this is a knitting group, but i also ventured a little further into my shopping and bout her a load of fishing stuff. oh like jigs and rigs and fishing line you get the idea. well the day before leaving on a fishing trip, my partner received my swap and she was so happy and it was perfect timing as they were leaving the next morning to go fishing. she absolutely loved the fact that she got all this fishing gear. that's why i like to try and find out more about my partner if I can that way I can always include something different. something they wouldn't expect to get in a swap. and thats half the fun I think.
some times if I know they have small children I will sut something in for the kids as kids love getting surprises in the mail. if they have furbabies, I like to put some treats of toys in for the fur babies
you have to try and be creative with out breaking the bank. and its possible, you dont have to spend alot of money all the time. just take the time to know your partner and from there and you will have a blast

when ever bottle swap

well i got a partner for the whenever bottle swap and I'm so excited.
i love this swap. it has always been a good swap well organized and the people that sign up for it, the partners i have given to and received from have always been great.

i have a few ideas in mind for my partner but i wont disclose yet. just in case she reads blogs. this is the first time i have been in this swap with a blog so it should be interesting.
to the partner who is sending to me. i mentioned a few things in a previous post and like i said , i love everything i get. I'm not picky at all.
the one thing i probably don't need is note pads or sticky notes. a calender from your area would be nice, i love seeing where people are from.
sock yarn is always nice( cascade fixation?) lol. it doesn't matter what ever you give is fine and thanks for taking the time to shop for me !

the when ever group

I belong to a really good group called the whenever group. mostly the talk is socks, but it gets off topic to which is fine. I love yahoo groups. most of them are friendly and you get to meet a lot of wonderful people on line. and if your lucky enough, some of those people you end up meeting in person. that happened with my friend penny and I. we ended up in a few groups together and then found out we live in the same city and well the rest is history. she really is a lovely lady very warm and generous and she was the one who finally helped me learn to make socks :0)
anyways, new bottle swap is coming out and i cant wait to get my partners name.
I love the swaps we do in this group the people here are so generous and it so much fun to shop for people you don't know and like to surprise.

we have a data base where we put info up as to our likes and dislikes but I thoughtI would put some info here in case my partner reads blogs
my dislikes:
nothing really, I am always so pleased and surprised at what my partners have sent. I'm so easy going and willing to try any thing new

my likes:
well now that's a different story lol I like any thing to do with knitting lol.I like bamboo needles/who doesn't? and can always use more for socks. I also recently tried and liked very much knit pick dpns.
books? knitting around the edge is one i have always wanted. well any book in that series would be great.
sock yarn, you can never ever have too much.I like opals in solids, I love cascade fixation just love love it but I again prefer solids. the reason I like this yarn so much is because Imake sock out of it for my mom. my mom is soon to be 68 yrs old and still works as a waitress, so she is constantly on her feet. now my mom is to me one of the best knitters in the world , she taught me when i was young. but for some reason she doesn't like making socks. so the first pair Imade for her was in cascade fixation and I told her to wear them to work as they were cotton and would be kind to her feet. well she did and now 6 pairs later
so she is always asking me to make her more with that cotton. we cant get it where I live and as Idon't have a credit card I cant order on line, I usually get some in a swap which is fabulous. so thanks to past swap partners my mother can now work in comfort. she compared it to walking on cloud 9. anything for mom right?
so yes I'm easy to please when it comes to swaps ,I am trying to learn how to spin on a drop spindle so fleece would be nice.
all in all I appreciate every thing Iget who wouldn't? these people take time and energy to shop for some one they don't know and I for one appreciate that.
the one thing I guess Idon't like getting is candy not much into that unless its really dark chocolate yum!! and oh coffee I love my coffee i love trying new different coffees. i had one lady send me blueberry coffee and it was fantastic.
well I'm off now, land lord is coming to work on the toilet and I need to get some knitting done.
hope you have a fab knitting day today :0) think happy thoughts

i have decided

what to do next.should be simple enough . i have several baby blankets and out fits that i need to be making for 3 upcoming babies. Two are within the next 2 months and the last is in November. the last one is the addition to our family so there is lots of time.
i have started a blanket from sirdar in pink, lots of work lot of small squares to be sewn together, but that means it is also a portable project so i can take it with me where ever i go.
its been a while since i have done a blanket , i love making them, so this should keep me busy for a while. i will post a pic of the color as soon as i have a square made.

pondering pondering

on what to start next. darling hubby that i have went to the USA for a bowling tourney this past weekend and decided to go to yarn Renaissance. while there he bought for me 6 balls of one of my fave sock yarns. cascade fixation. i love love love cascade fixations. he bought 2 dark blue 2 really pretty dark pink and 2 of white. he also bought me a pattern i have been wanting, the unfurling rose. has any one tried it?
the thing with the cascade, is i cannot buy it here where i am. so i usually ask for it when i join a swap. so how thoughtful was that. here he was on a bowling trip with the men and he went to a yarn shop for me. gotta love that man for sure :0)

the picture

aha lol that was easy enough
here is the pic of the bag i made. inside i put two washcloths made from cotton tots, and some felted soap. bath crystals and a tinned candle. what do you think?

finished

well i have really been intested in the breast cancer awarness campaign lately. i lost a young (42)year old cousin to breast cancer 2 yrs ago, and it was terrible.using the awarness ribbon graph , i made a small felted bag in 2 shades of pink with a draw string and pompoms. it was really cute and as soon as i can i will post a picture. anyways i made a couple of pink washcloths with different ribbon designs and then a bar of felted soap coupled with some bath salts and a tin candle and mailed it to a friend in the usa just becouse. i made the bag up as i went along, it was big enough to hold everything in it with room to spare. she e-mailed me that she received it and was quite happy with it. i like when things i knit turn out good lol i will have to make some more of these up for the women in my life, they make really nice and thoughtful gifts.

well i guess

i am going to try and set up shop here and see how it works out.this will be a blog of my knitting which is my favourite past time besides the grands.a little about me:my name is Cathy and i live in Canada with my hubby and fat cat. fat cat you say? yup fat cat. i will have to post pics of her one day. I'm sure you all will fall in love with her.we also have 5 daughters and 6 grandchildren 4 boys 2 girls with another on the way around the end of Oct. so i guess i have some serious baby knitting to do again. for some reason, I'm not that crazy about knitting baby stuff. my favourite things to knit are blankets socks and i love fulling.i am on ltd due to an injury 2.5 yrs ago but that's OK. i have worked most of my life so i guess some down time is welcome. i am hoping to have surgery soon maybe then i will be able to get back to work.i have a very loving husband who constantly and lovingly teases me about my knitting, but he is very proud and boasts about me all the time.on the needles right now are many projects. i am not the kind of knitter who starts and finishes a project. i like to have several going at once.i have shawl I'm working on some socks. squares for a very special blanket going to a very special lady and a few other things.i am looking forward to blogging here. i believe that blogging should be about fun and friendships.your more than welcome to leave comments as long as they are good comments. any nasty or foul language will not be permitted comments and opinions are fine, but i want this to remain a healthy clean family orintated blog.well i guess thats it for now ,untill next time fellow bloggers :0)
